CHICAGO, IA (IRN) – Authorities have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with a deadly shooting in Dubuque County, according to KWWL-TV. Chicago police arrested 19-year-old Adrianna Chica, of Dubuque, during a traffic stop Friday night. She faces charges related to the death of 21-year-old Collin Brown. Investigators say she and others tried to rob Brown in April. He was shot as he was running away from his home.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A young black bear was struck and killed by a truck Friday evening in Allamakee County. The bear is believed to be the same one that had been pictured on social media last week in a corn field near the Yellow River Forest. It was a young bear weighing about 200 pounds. The last bear reported to be killed in a traffic collision in Iowa was just over a year ago near Jesup.

DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – A 15-year-old Davenport girl is dead after an overnight shooting, according to WQAD-TV. Ayana Culbreath was shot shortly after midnight on Sunday. An ambulance transported her to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Shell casings were found at the scene.

DUNLAP, IA (IRN) – A western Iowa baseball coach has been suspended following an allegation that he was drunk at a game. Coon Rapids Police Chief Joel Roetman told The Des Moines Register that the incident occurred during a Boyer Valley game in Coon Rapids Friday night. Roetman says he performed a field sobriety test on Boyer Valley coach Jay Petersen and says Petersen’s blood alcohol content tested out at more than twice the legal limit if he were driving. Petersen is on suspension.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A 14-year-old Des Moines girl was shot in the face Saturday night, according to KCCI-TV. A 14-year-old boy has been charged with reckless use of a firearm causing injury, a Class C felony. The shooting appears to be accidental. She’s in critical condition.

OTTUMWA, IA (IRN) – A man was hospitalized and multiple police officers are on paid leave after an officer – involved shooting in Ottumwa. WHO-TV reports emergency crews were called to a house fire Saturday. When crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed and a man was outside shooting at it with a rifle. He approached police in a threatening manner, and multiple officers fired their weapons. The man’s condition is unknown. Investigators suspect arson.

WEST LIBERTY, IA (IRN) – A bicyclist participating in the third annual “pEDaling for Pancreatic Cancer” fundraiser was killed after being hit by a car. The Muscatine Journal reports the crash happened Saturday in West Liberty. The victim is 40-year-old Lisa Kuhn, of Muscatine. A 28-year-old West Liberty man was driving a car southbound when he hit the bicyclist from behind.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Two women challenging Iowa’s regulation on African-style hair braiding plan to drop a lawsuit they filed last year because of a change in state law. WQAD-TV reports the women will drop their lawsuit once new legislation takes effect Friday. The pending law will allow the women and others in Iowa to do natural hair braiding without a cosmetology license, which requires 2,100 hours of training that is mostly unrelated to braiding.
