CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Police in Cedar Rapids are investigating an armed robbery that happened at a cash advance business in Cedar Rapids yesterday. KGAN-TV reports it happened at Hometown Cash Advance. Two male suspects entered the store with handguns and fled on foot. One of the employees was pistol-whipped by one of the suspects.
WARREN COUNTY, IA (IRN) – Two people are dead following a plane crash in Warren County Friday morning. WHO-TV reports the plane was practicing landing maneuvers at a landing strip when the crash happened. It’s under investigation.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines police have confirmed one man is dead and two others were injured after a shooting early Saturday morning. KCCI-TV reports the shooting happened around 1:15 a.m. near Johnny Mac’s Bar and Grill on Hubbell. The man who died has been identified as 40-year-old William Dawson Sr. His son, 20-year-old William Dawson Jr. was injured. 20-year-old Carly Toomey was also injured. No one is in custody.
CORALVILLE, IA (IRN) – Coralville Police are searching for a woman who robbed a bank Friday afternoon. KCRG-TV reports officers responded to a US Bank location around 5:00 p.m. Bank employees say the woman entered the bank and demanded money. A teller gave her an undisclosed amount of cash and the woman fled in a vehicle driven by an accomplice. No weapons were displayed in the robbery and no one was hurt.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump drew more than 1,000 supporters to the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines yesterday. The Des Moines Register reports the speech focused on the role of the Iowa caucuses, defense of America’s allies, and an unrelenting attack on Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Trump says while he doesn’t like the caucuses, they will keep their first in the nation status if he is elected.
