FLOYD COUNTY, IA (IRN) – A North Iowa man awaiting trial on accusations of rape is now asking to have the location of his trial moved out of Floyd County. KIMT-TV reports 47-year-old Stephen Brodersen, Jr., of Greene, was scheduled to stand trial on a charge of 3rd degree sexual abuse for assaulting a female houseguest at his home in Marble Rock. Brodersen arrived in Iowa after serving more than 20 years in prison in Maine for the murder of his mother.
CLIVE, IA (IRN) – One person has died and several others were wounded in a shooting outside the 7 Flags Event Center in Clive early this morning. KCCI-TV reports there was an altercation inside the building that spilled out into the parking lot where shots were fired. The Center had been hosting the 2nd Annual All-Black Party – where people are invited to wear all black. About 120 people were there.
DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – A Dubuque man sexually assaulted a woman and tried to kill her before shooting himself. KCRG-TV reports 34-year-old Anthony Foht faces attempted murder, sexual abuse and burglary charges. Foht went to the home of a woman he knew Tuesday, and sexually assaulted her at gunpoint. He then tried to shoot her, but the gun misfired, which allowed the woman to get away. Foht then shot himself. He went to the hospital, where police arrested him.
FORT DODGE, IA (IRN) – Two juveniles, ages 13 and 12, face felony robbery charges in Fort Dodge. WHO-TV reports the victim of the robbery was approached by two juvenile males who had a pistol and demanded his phone. The juveniles took the phone and rode away on bikes. Police found the two a few blocks away. They were in possession of a realistic airsoft pistol and the victim’s phone.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines is welcoming its newest member. WOI-TV reports Maxwell the tiger moved into his new home about two months ago and has been in his exhibit for a short time. He’s six years old and weighs 400 pounds. Max came from Chicago to mate with Misha, Blank Park’s female tiger.
