CLIVE, IA (IRN) – Iowa Lottery officials say someone who bought a Powerball ticket in Avoca has won a $1 million prize. The ticket purchased at Wings America Travel Centre matched the first five numbers drawn Wednesday but missed on the Powerball number.

CENTERVILLE, IA (IRN) – A rollover crash in Appanoose County claimed the life of a Centerville teen Thursday. Emergency personnel responded to the scene and found a 1999 Dodge Ram rolled over in a ditch.

DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition after falling off her bike in Dubuque County. KCRG-TV reports the girl fell while riding down a grassy hill. She was airlifted to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she is in critical condition.

MASON CITY, IA (IRN) – An apartment building had to be evacuated Thursday afternoon in Mason City, according to KIMT-TV. Apartment resident Brandy Blakely says she smelled rubber burning, and then saw smoke and flames. She and others yelled “fire,” and evacuated the building. Several doors had to be broken down to rescue people. Blakely says she’s lost everything. No injuries were reported.

WARREN COUNTY, IA (IRN) – A man led Norwalk police on a chase at speeds of over 100 mph Thursday, according to WHO-TV. He’s in jail after stopping to ask directions, and running out of gas.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The biggest boar is drawing thousands of visitors at the Iowa State Fair. KCCI-TV reports Big Buck weighed in at 1,192 pounds. The Hampshire boar is from the eastern Iowa town of Ryan, population around 350. Big Buck’s owners, McDonald Acres, also won the competition in 2015 with Big Mac. They said the secret to their success is in the “secret sauce” that they feed their animals.
