DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – Dubuque Police responded to a shots fired call last night and found a home had been shot at numerous times. KCRG-TV reports three adults were at home at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured. Shell casings and bullet damage was reported on two sides of the house, and a fence. The shooting is not believed to be a random act.
BLOOMFIELD, IA (IRN) – Davis County deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash just south of Bloomfield Tuesday night. KTVO-TV reports a minivan ran a stop sign and collided with a car, sending it into a ditch. Multiple people were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
LUANA, IA (IRN) – A northeastern Iowa man has died after being trapped in a grain bin Monday. The Telegraph Herald reports that 88-year-old Duane Walter, of McGregor, died after entering the bin near Luana to break up some corn. Officials say Walter was completely covered by the corn in the incident. It took rescue crews about an hour to find and remove him from the bin.
IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) – Students planted hundreds of flags outside the Old Capitol Museum at the University of Iowa yesterday, according to KCRG-TV. It was done to raise awareness about suicide prevention. Students wrote messages on the flags to remember friends and family lost to suicide. One student said if the display helps save one life, it’s all worth it.
CLIVE, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Lottery says the Social Security numbers of nearly 3,000 Iowa Lottery winners were inadvertently posted to a website this month. The information was in data spreadsheets listing winners of $600 or more in 2011. Iowa Lottery CEO Terry Rich apologized and said the lottery will offer credit monitoring to those whose data was released.
WEST DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A West Des Moines man is in critical condition after his car overturned and crashed into a house and entered the dining room Monday night about 8:00 p.m. KCCI-TV reports the homeowners say they are lucky that no one in the family was injured. Mom Emily Lyons says normally they all sit around the dining room table about that time playing Legos. But not Monday night. Lyons says, “I had my angels. I definitely had my angels.”
