DRAKESVILLE, IA (IRN) – The southeast Iowa driver accused of striking and killing an Amish boy with a pickup truck near Drakesville in June is now facing additional charges. KTVO-TV reports Terry Petary, 41, of Drakesville is now charged with Causing Serious Injury by Vehicle, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Leaving the Scene of an Accident That Causes Death and Failure to Report an Accident. He was already charged with Vehicular Homicide. Petary killed nine-year-old Merlin Beechy when he struck the boy and his 12-year-old brother, Nathan.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A woman is in critical condition following a shooting early this morning in Des Moines. KCCI-TV reports the woman arrived at Mercy Medical Center in a private vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – A 19-year-old woman was rescued from a crash off of the side of a Cedar Rapids bridge. KWWL-TV reports Jonisa Williams was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Cruze when she lost control and went over the side of the bridge. Rescue crews pulled her to safety with the use of a basket and a rope. She’s in the hospital with serious injuries.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A woman was arrested early Thursday morning after police say she was drunk when she intentionally rammed her SUV into several vehicles and tried to run people over outside an east side Des Moines bar. Police were called to the 14th Street Tavern around 1:00 a.m. The caller said a woman was in the parking lot, ramming her blue Ford Expedition into other cars and trying to run people over. Officers took 31-year-old Teri Watson into custody.
CARTER LAKE, IA (IRN) – An attempted murder charge against a Carter Lake woman has been dismissed at the request of her alleged victim. The Council Bluffs Daily Nonpareil reports that the charge against 51-year-old Tammy Oberg was dropped Wednesday. Oberg had been charged in May after being accused of trying to run over another woman on a bicycle. She told officers she did it because she believed the victim was riding a stolen bike.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels whom President Trump allegedly had an affair with and paid hush money to, says he’s considering running for president. KCCI-TV reports the 47-year-old California native was at the Iowa State Fair yesterday to test the waters. Avenatti says Democrats need a fighter to take down President Trump in 2020, and he thinks he might be their man.
