SIOUX CITY, IA (IRN) – J.D. Scholten has launched his bid for Iowa’s 4th Congressional District, which is currently held by Republican Steve King. Tonight, he’ll host a kick-off rally in his hometown of Sioux City, followed by a swing through the district. Scholten was the 2018 Democratic nominee against Rep. King, who was elected for the ninth time.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Two people are dead after a head-on collision on Highway 30 in Cedar Rapids Sunday. Their identities have not been released.

CLIVE, IA (IRN) – An Oklahoma man has been charged with third-degree sex abuse after Clive police say he inappropriately touched a 14-year-old boy in a hotel room on Sunday. Police say after the incident the boy ran crying to his mother who was in a different room.

CLEAR LAKE, IA (IRN) – The Iowa DNR is investigating a Waukee man’s death after he suffered a possible medical emergency on Clear Lake. 28-year-old Daniel Linderman was tubing behind a boat when he fell into the water Saturday. He was swimming back to the boat when he stopped and went face down into the water. Linderman was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The DNR said he was wearing a life jacket.

DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – Last Sunday, 51-year-old Paul Domine’s body was pulled from the Mississippi River near Buffalo, Iowa. WQAD-TV reports his friends say despite being homeless, he always had a positive outlook, saying “I’m homeless, not hopeless.”
