DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A woman was dragged into a man’s apartment and sexually assaulted in Des Moines. KCCI-TV reports the victim and James Arthur Edwards, 30, of Des Moines, were with a group of people socializing in an apartment. Edwards invited the victim to go elsewhere, and she declined. The victim later returned to her apartment, heard a knock on the door and assumed it was her friend. When she answered the door, Edwards was there. Edwards allegedly grabbed the victim and dragged her back to the apartment they were in previously before attempting to sexually assault her in the bathroom.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Police have located a Des Moines man in Las Vegas and charged him with first-degree murder in connection to a homicide back in October. Nicky Beery, 39, faces those charges in the death of 43-year-old James Moss Jr.

MASON CITY, IA (IRN) – A Clear Lake woman is facing a felony theft charge for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the Goodwill parking lot. KIMT-TV reports Amanda Seely, 31, allegedly stole a 2005 Chevy Tahoe from a person she didn’t know. The vehicle was later recovered in Hamilton County early the next day.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Kids in the Cedar Rapids area had a chance to try out hockey on Saturday. KCRG-TV reports it’s called “Try Hockey For Free” and took place at the Cedar Rapids Ice Arena. The staff there said the goal is to get more people interested in the sport, to help grow participation in the area
