DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A Des Moines man accused of shooting and killing a man has been found guilty. Larontez Buchanan, 20, has been convicted of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery. Buchanan shot 25-year-old Darryn Brooks and left his body in the parking lot of an apartment complex on March 9.

WATERLOO, IA (IRN) – A man allegedly led police on a high-speed chase on Thursday night in Waterloo after failing to pull over during a traffic stop, according to KCRG-TV. Jeremy Towsley, 38, was arrested and charged with eluding while operating while intoxicated, among other charges. Towsley lost control of his vehicle, and started to run, though he stopped and allowed officers to arrest him after they displayed a Tazer device.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – A fire outside of a home in Cedar Rapids damaged two personal vehicles, according to fire department officials. The Fire Department was sent to a report of a trailer on fire near a home’s detached garage. Firefighters discovered a trailer containing two Ski-Doo snowmobiles engulfed in flames. Firefighters were quickly able to put out the fire before it was able to spread to the nearby garage. The two snowmobiles were a total loss.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Mobile home residents at the Midwest Country Estates in Des Moines say their new out-of-state landlords are taking advantage of them. KCCI-TV reports they met with lawmakers to see what can be done. They are getting annual increases of 60-70%, and want lawmakers to stop it.
