WEST DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A West Des Moines daycare employee faces child endangerment charges after an infant in her care suffered a skull fracture. 36-year-old Jamie Leann Kober, a Canadian resident, is charged with child endangerment – serious injury. Kober is an employee at Alphabet Academy, and said the child was sitting in a “boppy” and fell backwards. She told investigators she didn’t report the incident because she was “scared.”
MASON CITY, IA (IRN) – Police in Mason City are investigating the discovery of what appear to be human bones. A resident found the bones, along with clothing, on the shore of the Winnebago River.
WEST DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – West Des Moines Police are investigating after a car drove into a home Sunday morning. Cherese Schirk came home from work to find a gray Pontiac Grand Prix parked where her couch used to sit and her back yard showered with glass. Schirk says “there were liquor bottles thrown on the yard… and all I could see was a car in my living room.” The driver was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – Around 2,200 people came to the Five Flags Civic Center in Dubuque on Saturday for a concert by country music star Lee Brice. It was the center’s first major concert in more than a year after shutting down last March due to the pandemic, and fans lined up for blocks to get tickets.
IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) – Both the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Drake Bulldogs men’s basketball teams will be competing in NCAA tournament. The Hawkeyes are the second seed in the west region and will play Grand Canyon on Saturday. Drake will play Wichita State on Thursday for the opportunity to be the 11th seed.
