COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (IRN) – Two people are under arrest following a stolen vehicle pursuit from Omaha into Council Bluffs early this morning. The Council Bluffs police say the pickup truck was stolen at gunpoint. Omaha officers used stop sticks to deflate some of the truck’s tires before it pulled over in Council Bluffs. Four people surrendered and two were taken into custody.

WEBSTER CITY, IA (IRN) – A 7-year-old Webster City boy was shot in the foot by his father Saturday. The father’s gun went off as he pulled it out of his waistband.

IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) – Some vendors who normally participate in the Iowa City farmers market are opting out and deciding to participate in the virtual market again this year. Iowa City is looking to fill vacant vendor spots for this season’s farmers market, a rare occurrence. A total of 22 vendors opted out this season, roughly a quarter of the 85 to 100 vendors that participate in a normal year.

IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) Construction is starting soon on a $56 million redevelopment project in Iowa City’s downtown Pedestrian Mall. The project will redevelop five buildings along the Mall, and all buildings will be designated as historic landmarks. Behind the existing buildings, a new 11-story structure will be built to house 102 market-rate apartments.

AMES, IA (IRN) – Iowa State University will fire Cyclone men’s basketball head coach Steve Prohm. The Cyclones finished the 2020-2021 basketball season 2-22. Prohm leaves the Cyclones with a 97-95 record in six seasons with the team. Buying out Prohm’s contract will cost the university approximately $5,400,000. ISU faces a $25,000,000 budget shortfall due to the pandemic.
