DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines police are investigating an overnight shooting on Army Post Road. Two people were shot outside the Wicked Rabbit Bar and Grille late Sunday night. The southside bar is no stranger to police. In 2018, the city council looked into taking action to revoke the bar’s license after a slew of violence.
COGGON, IA (IRN) – A Linn County Sheriff’s deputy has been shot several times while responding to a robbery in progress call at a Casey’s convenience store in Coggon. The suspect shot the deputy several times. The deputy was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and the extent of the deputy’s injuries is not known.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Nearly two-thirds of Iowa voters want someone new to replace Sen. Chuck Grassley according to a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll. The poll said 64% of likely Iowa voters said it’s time for someone else to hold the longtime Iowa Republican’s Senate seat. Grassley is 87-years-old and has held his seat since 1980. He hasn’t yet announced whether he plans to run for re-election in 2022.
BOONE, IA (IRN) – The Boone Police Department is investigating several complaints from residents about a note opposing LGBTQ rights being left on residents’ doors. All of the homes have Pride flags or doormats. Police have identified a suspect and charges are being filed.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Department of Public Health recently added 752 positive coronavirus tests from spring 2020 to its online dashboard, after learning that a private lab failed to report them promptly to the state. The positive tests were from May and June 2020, and most of them came from people in northwest Iowa’s Buena Vista County.
