DES MOINES, IA (IRN) -A homicide investigation is underway in Des Moines after the body of a man was found in a wooded area near a bike trail Monday night. Police said the man has been identified as a 43-year-old Des Moines resident. Police said the man sustained a gunshot injury prior to his death.
CEDAR FALLS, IA (IRN) – Several people were brought ashore from the swollen Cedar River on Sunday evening after their boats became disabled. The Black Hawk County dispatch center received a report of a person in a disabled boat that had become stuck in a tree after losing engine power. A second boat had attempted to tow the first boat to safety, but that boat also became disabled after losing power and was also stuck in the tree.
CHICKASAW COUNTY, IA (IRN) – Another Iowa county has approved a second amendment sanctuary resolution. Chickasaw County is now the 11th Iowa county to take action against any laws hindering gun rights at the local level.
IOWA (IRN) – The U.S. Department of Education is investigating the Iowa Department of Education over the state’s ban on mask mandates. The department says the state’s law could amount to discrimination against students with disabilities or health conditions. Four other Republican-led states received the same letter.
