PERRY, IA (IRN) – A Perry police officer was injured Tuesday morning in a shooting. An officer was shot in the leg. The investigation is ongoing.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Des Moines woman charged in a deadly hit-and-run crash last month has pleaded not guilty. 38-year-old Terra Flipping entered a written plea last week. Flipping is charged with leaving the scene of the deadly crash that killed 14-year-old Ema Cardenas. Flipping turned herself in to the police the morning after the crash.
WEBSTER CITY, IA (IRN) – The trial for the Grundy Center man accused of killing a 27-year veteran of the Iowa State Patrol begins Monday. Michael Lang, 42, will be in court in Webster City standing trial for the murder of Sgt. Jim Smith. Lang is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of Sgt. Smith during a standoff in Grundy Center.
WILLIAMSON, IA (IRN) – A Lucas County 17-year-old was pulled over and given a breathalyzer test on Feb. 10, in the Lucas County town of Williamson. Kylea Parker and her family don’t deny she had alcohol in her system when she was pulled over that night. However, they say she shouldn’t have been forced to change her pants on the side of the road. Parker had wet pants on during the time of the traffic stop, due to circumstances not related to the traffic stop. She says she was forced to change them, while on the side of the road, with a Lucas County Deputy parked behind her.
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Kylie McCaughey has wanted to be a police officer for as long as she can remember. Now the Marion Police Department believes she may be the youngest officer they’ve ever hired. Officer McCaughey joined the Department in 2021 at 18-years-old. She has since turned 19. The Linn-Mar High School graduate is now wearing the same uniform as her school resource officer Tom Daubs.
