DENISON, IA (IRN) – A pursuit near Denison in Harrison ended with a car on fire and a driver taken directly to jail earlier this week. A driver tried to elude troopers on Interstate 29. Troopers were able to use stop sticks to flatten the tires of the suspect vehicle. The driver continued to drive on their flat tires which caused their vehicle to catch fire. Troopers then helped pull the driver out of the burning vehicle and took them to jail.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The city of Des Moines has had its eighth murder of the year. Fifty-eight-year-old Tony Earl Arterberry has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a woman in the Drake neighborhood. Her name and the circumstances of her death have not been released.
JEFFERSON, IA (IRN) – A Jefferson city employee who allegedly fired a weapon more than 20 times in the direction of three juvenile girls after one refused to perform a sex act in a park has been arrested. 28-year-old Michael Teeples has been terminated from his position with the city and faces numerous charges.
DECORAH, IA (IRN) – A Calmar man with three outstanding felony arrest warrants was arrested in Decorah on Monday after a high-speed chase. Michael Foland, 20, led deputies and officers on a chase after they tried to stop his vehicle when they recognized him. The chase went north of Decorah, then through a farm field and back to Decorah before Foland rolled his vehicle trying to drive over a dike. He was taken into custody after a lengthy standoff with law enforcement.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Confluence Brewing of Des Moines has won a top prize at the World Beer Cup. The winning brew is called Over the Ivy. It’s described as a Czech-style pilsner, containing grain from Bohemia. The name is a tip of the hat to the 2016 World Champion Chicago Cubs. Confluence beat out close to 2,500 breweries from 57 countries around the world to win the World Beer Cup in the Bohemian Pilsner category.
