WATERLOO, IA (IRN) – A boy is recovering in the hospital after being shot multiple times in Waterloo Thursday evening. Police say the boy was shot in the arm and back and was taken to the hospital by private car.

BUENA VISTA COUNTY, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services announced on Friday that the first confirmed case of West Nile Virus in a human in the state this year has been reported. The victim is a middle-aged adult out of Buena Vista County. HHS says that six Iowans were diagnosed in 2021. None of them died from the virus.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Labor Day weekend is one of the deadliest holidays in the State.
As of Thursday, Sept. 1, the Iowa State Patrol reports there have been 220 deaths on the road so far this year. The State Patrol is worried that the number could increase like it’s done on past Labor Day weekends. They say slow down, and pay attention to the road.
