Iowa City, IA – (IRN) The University of Iowa football game vs Nevada ended in a 27-0 win for the Hawkeyes, in a game that started Saturday evening and ended Sunday morning. The game played all the way through to 10:02 left in the third quarter, when the first lightning delay lasted 1 hour and 19 minutes. The two teams returned and after a 12-minute warm-up session play started again. Nine minutes later, another lightning delay was called, lasting 1 hour, 50 minutes and the third and final delay was called after the teams returned to the field for just one play. The game was delayed a total of 3 hours and 56 minutes, and ended at 1:39am.
Northwood, IA (WHO) A body that was found in the Shell Rock River Friday in rural Worth County has been identified as Melissa Jo Olson, age 45. The Worth County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigations is seeking information from anyone who may have seen Olson walking in the area, and a cause of death has not been released at this time.
Iowa City, IA – (KCCI) A University of Iowa Student will become the first Sikh Air Force Cadet in Iowa History. According to KCCI News, Gursharan Virk always wanted to become a fighter pilot, and with the help of the University of Iowa’s Air Force ROTC Detachment he will have a chance to accomplish that gaol. Virk will be allowed to keep his beard and wear traditional religious symbols of his faith, a turban and a bracelet.
Webster County, IA – (KCCI) A shooting investigation is underway in Webster County after a girl was shot Friday evening after reports of a large party. According to KCCI News, the girl was transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. After several interviews, deputies say a male juvenile is the possible suspect.
