DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A Des Moines man is charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 45-year-old man who was found dead at a south side motel. Police have charged 50-year-old Surfun Julise Boens with the crime. Evidence shows Boens shot the victim, causing the man’s death. Boens lived with the victim in a room at Fleur Lodge. Surveillance footage shows Boens was the last person to be with the victim when he was known to be alive.
MONTICELLO, IA (IRN) – A man accused of breaking into someone’s Monticello home was shot and killed on Wednesday morning, according to Monticello Police. Pattrick O’Brine, 30, was shot and killed at a home in Monticello. Police say the resident called 911 to report a break-in. Before officers arrived, that person armed themselves and shot the intruder. The 44-year-old resident was home with his 10-year-old son at the time and both were not injured.

Staff say prices for general public season tickets for the seven home football games next season range from $335 to $425 compared to last season’s $345-$450 range, depending on seat location. The Hawkeyes won five of their final six games to close the 2022 season, including a 21-0 win over Kentucky in the TransPerfect Music City Bowl.
