ANKENY, IA (IRN) – Ankeny police want to know why a man entered someone’s apartment without permission and stayed for 30 minutes while the occupants slept. According to police, the man walked into two units at Prairie Lakes Saturday night. He hovered over a woman while she slept on the couch. The man was barefoot when he entered and later took a pair of socks from the counter and put them on before he left. The man also allegedly took a drink, used the bathroom and collected all the shoes in the house and set them next to the couch. He was inside for about a half-hour before being confronted by residents, when he left.
IOWA (IRN) – The National Weather Service has confirmed at least 10 tornadoes touched down in Iowa last Friday. Those tornadoes touched down in six eastern Iowa counties. Seven were rated EF2 tornadoes. An EF2 tornado that touched down in Wapello County had an estimated peak wind of 135 mph and had a path length of 8.1 miles.
IOWA (IRN) – The southeastern half of Iowa will once again be under a significant risk for severe weather and tornadoes for the second time in less than a week. Tuesday’s setup looks similar to last Friday’s in terms of tornadic potential and placement. The start time may be a few hours later, pushing the main hours of concern out of the school day and later into the evening.
SOLON, IA (IRN) – A Classic Rock station got knocked off the air after Friday’s tornadoes in eastern Iowa. 100.7 The Fox is not transmitting over the air after their radio tower got taken down by an EF-2 tornado near Solon.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (IRN) – First lady Jill Biden said Monday that she wants the runner-up Iowa women’s basketball team to be invited to the White House in addition to the national title winner Louisiana State University. She watched LSU’s 102-85 victory over Iowa from the stands on Sunday night. Speaking at the Colorado state capital in Denver, Biden praised Iowa’s sportsmanship and congratulated both teams on their performance.
