ALBIA (IRN) – The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Albia Police Department are seeking details about a possible suspect in what they are calling a homicide. Albia resident Daniel Gundrum, 49, was found following a 911 call for a disturbance and shooting just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday. Despite life-saving efforts by officers and medical technicians, Gundrum succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the State Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause and manner of death. DAVENPORT (IRN) – While the vast majority of Iowans grapple with drought, many received need relief with heavy rain over the weekend, but that came with severe weather as well. The National Weather Service reports several instances of hail in Wapello and Van Buren Counties, and a brief EF0 tornado formed in Davenport overnight Saturday. Several areas in the Quad Cities and in northeast Iowa also received wind damage.
ALTOONA (IRN) – More than 50 Iowans were sickened at a recent wedding, and a follow up food inspection showed concerns with the caterer who provided the meals. According to the Des Moines Register, the bride contacted Fireside Grille in Altoona, and following that meeting, reached out to the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals. The agency cited five violations relating to improper storage of food at warmer than safe temperatures.
CLIVE (IRN) – Three Iowans won big prizes in just a two day span, according to the Iowa Lottery. A $2 million Powerball prize was purchased in Ottumwa, a $390,000 InstaPlay game was won in Cascade, and the $1 million Mega Millions jackpot was won with a ticket purchased in Davenport.
