MARSHALLTOWN – The main suspect in a murder investigation in Marshalltown was shot in California Friday. Victor Delgadillo, 18, of Marshalltown is wanted on the charge of Murder in the First Degree in connection with a shooting that occurred in Marshalltown on June 1st. Law enforcement in Anaheim, California were involved in an investigation involving Delgadillo. An officer involved shooting occurred and Delgadillo was reportedly shot during this incident and has been taken to a hospital. His status is not known. No law enforcement officers were injured.

IOWA – The state can enforce a book ban passed by the Iowa Legislature following a ruling by a federal appeals court on Friday. WHO-13 reports the U.S. Eighth Circuit Court overturned a district judge decision that halted several parks of Senate File 496, passed in 2023, that limits books in school libraries. Teenagers, teachers, and major publishers sued to permanently overturn the law that resulted in the removal of hundreds of books last year. The matter still remains in district court to determine the law’s constitutional standing.

DECATUR COUNTY – A single vehicle crash resulted in a fatality in Decatur County Friday evening. The Iowa State Patrol reports 61-year-old Edward Hiebing of Leon had a medical issue on Highway 2 and left the roadway. Police say his GMC Sierra then crashed into a nearby building.
