FORT DODGE (IRN) – A former Christian missionary from Fort Dodge has been sentenced to up to 25 years in prison for abusing a preschooler and giving them a sexually transmitted disease. Jordan Webb, 31, was convicted by a jury on charges of second-degree sexual abuse, incest, and child endangerment. He’ll have to serve at least 17.5 years in prison before he’s eligible for parole, and he’ll have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life once he’s out. Webb and the child both tested positive for gonorrhea last April.
BONDURANT, IA (IRN – A man was partially buried after part of a trench collapsed at a construction site in Bondurant Monday. Workers were working on putting in a sewer when the trench collapsed. Responders worked quickly to expose the man’s head, giving him oxygen while getting him out of the trench. His condition is unknown.
MARSHALL COUNTY, IA (IRN) – An Illinois man is in jail in Marshall County after fleeing authorities Monday. A deputy was westbound on Highway 30 when a car flew past in the eastbound lanes while traveling 110 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone. The deputy was able to get the driver to stop initially, but the driver then took off – once again topping 100 mph. As the chase entered Tama County, deputies were able to use stop-sticks to flatten three tires on the car. Eventually it came to a stop and its driver was taken into custody.
DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Central Iowa Shelter and Services is working with the city of Des Moines Parks and Recreation to provide meals to kids this summer. Free meals are available at parks throughout Des Moines. Some are a part of the city’s summer camp program, but all the meals are available to anyone 18 and younger.
