EMMETSBURG (IRN) – A daycare provider in Emmetsburg was charged in relation to the death of a child in her care. The Iowa Department of Public Safety released details about 28 year old Hannah Priest, 28, who was charged with child endangerment resulting in death, a class B felony. She is currently being held on a $50,000 cash only bond. On January 19, 2023, EMT’s responded to a call of an unresponsive child. 23-month-old Sebastian Jespersen was transported to Palo Alto County Hospital and then to Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines. On January 24, 2023, he was pronounced dead. An investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner revealed that Sebastian died of head trauma consistent with inflicted injuries.
DES MOINES (IRN) – An RV fire in Des Moines was so intense Saturday, crews have not been able to identify a victim. The Des Moines Register reports the Des Moines Fire Department did not know someone was inside when they arrived early Saturday morning after witnesses called 911 for the RV parked near Merle Hay Mall. The unidentified individual is believed to be the only victim in the fire.
AMES (IRN) – The Iowa State Athletics Department sent an apology to fans following long waits for the opening football game. KCCI-TV reports Athletic Director Jamie Pollard apologized for delays caused by new ticketing systems that left fans waiting in the heat to get into the opener vs. UNI Saturday. Iowa State is hosting the CyHawk series Saturday.
