LOVILIA (IRN) – A Des Moines man reported missing in August with medical concerns was found dead by police Wednesday. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was called to a Lovilia farm property located in southern Marion County in regards to a vehicle that had been located in a creek. Responding deputies located the vehicle on a rural portion of the property and it was identified as a green 2007 Ford Focus belonging to Larry Dean Freeborn Sr. It was determined that a deceased individual was present and that Larry Sr. had previously been reported missing to the Des Moines Police Department in August 2023 with concerning medical issues.
DAVENPORT (IRN) – A partial building collapse in Davenport was caused by the removal of brick and inadequate shoring, according to an investigation. The Des Moines Register reports a 113 page report by two engineering companies also blamed an inadequate oversight of repairs and history of improper maintenance. Three people died in the apartment collapse earlier this year.
DES MOINES (IRN) – Governor Kim Reynolds announced $5 million in funding for Iowa’s food banks. At the World Food Prize Thursday, the Governor discussed the support for four different Iowa facilities, according to WHO-13.
TRURO (IRN) – The coach behind one of the biggest upsets in NCAA Tournament history has now made it to his Iowa high school’s wall of pride. Tobin Anderson was the coach of Farleigh Dickenson when they upset Purdue in the first round of March Madness this past spring. KCCI-TV reports his former high school, Interstate 35, has added him to their wall of pride.
