SAYLOR (IRN) – A firefighter was injured during a building fire Monday. WHO-13 reports the Saylor Township Fire Department was called to a large metal building that was fully engulfed. A firefighter was hurt as part of the response that included several metro fire departments, and that individual has since been discharged from the hospital.

IOWA (IRN) – Crop conditions continue to worsen due to the ongoing drought. The Des Moines Register reports only 21% of soil in Iowa is adequate, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Only 46% of corn and 44% of soybeans are in good condition as harvest starts to begin across much of the state.

CEDAR RAPIDS (IRN) – The youngest son of Iowa basketball coach Fran McCaffery was found guilty in connection to hitting a pedestrian. A judge found Jack McCaffery guilty of failing to yield in the right of way. McCaffery hit 45 year old jogger Corey Hite earlier this year, who died two weeks after due to injuries suffered. Jack will be sentenced in October.
