GRANDVIEW, IA (IRN) – Authorities have released the name of a missing swimmer whose body was recovered from the Mississippi River in southeast Iowa. KCRG-TV reports the man is 40-year-old Jason Fowler of Muscatine. His body was found Sunday in the Mississippi’s main channel. He was swimming with a small group of people when he ventured too far from shore and disappeared underwater.

KEOKUK, IA (IRN) – A body has been found in a stolen vehicle pulled from the Des Moines River near Keokuk in Lee County. KCCI-TV reports officials began searching for the vehicle after a missing man had been seen in the area Saturday morning. They found tire tracks leading into the river and then the SUV in about 15 feet of water. The body was inside.

MT PLEASANT, IA (IRN) – Three motorcycles were involved in a fatal wreck Sunday. KCII-radio reports the accident was north of Mt. Pleasant. The three motorcycles were operated by 63-year-old Kenneth Koch of Wayland, 41-year-old Lori Leffler of Washington and 45-year-old Dwayne Leffler of Washington. The Yamaha motorcycle operated by Koch ran into the back of the other two motorcycles and then ran off the roadway. Koch died of his injuries.

HARDIN COUNTY, IA (IRN) – A fatal crash was reported on Highway 20 in Hardin County Monday morning. The Iowa State Patrol reports a semi driven by Sosa Alberto of Melrose Park, Illinois, was traveling westbound when he lost control and tipped onto the passenger side, coming to rest partially in the roadway. Another semi driven by 34-year-old Lucas Lodermeier of Zearing, hit the first semi. Lodermeier was killed. His seatbelt was severed in the crash.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A driver pled guilty Monday in a fatal hit-and-run in April. KCCI-TV reports 21-year-old Ray Alexander Sangster pled guilty to leaving the scene of a crash causing death. 37-year-old Constantino Ayala passed away from injuries suffered in the crash. Ayala was hit while crossing a street on foot.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Iowans love Pokemon go. The Des Moines Register reports research shows that Iowa is the ninth most-engrossed state in the U.S. when it comes to hunting Pokemon. Maybe hunting Pokemon is good for us. Iowa is the 16th most obese state and the 26th least active.

MINOCQUA, WI (IRN) – An Iowa City woman celebrated her 80th birthday this week but not like most people would imagine, according to KCRG-TV. Linda Watkins rang in her big day by zip-lining with family members in northern Wisconsin on Sunday. She invited all of her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids to meet her in Minocqua (min-OCK-wah), where her son lives. She says the experience was amazing but seeing her family was the icing on the cake.
