AMES, IA (IRN) – Iowa State University officials announced today that T.J. Otzelberger will return “home” to Ames as the 21st head men’s basketball coach in Iowa State history. Director of Athletics Jamie Pollard said Otzelberger will be introduced virtually Friday at 10:30 a.m. Otzelberger served as an assistant to Greg McDermott and Fred Hoiberg and remains close to Pollard. He is married to former ISU star Allison Lacey.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds announced Wednesday that all adult Iowans will be eligible for COVID-19 vaccination starting April 5 if state allocations continue as planned.

USA (IRN) – The Internal Revenue Service will delay the April 15 tax deadline until mid-May.
This is the second consecutive year the IRS has delayed the deadline. Last February, the deadline was extended to July 15.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Drake University announced Wednesday that it agreed to an eight-year contract extension with head men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries. DeVries is in his third season with the Bulldogs and brought the team to its first at-large selection in the tournament. Drake faces Wichita State tonight in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.

DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – Nine years ago, a boy with down syndrome named Matthew Kiernan walked into Springers Martial Arts Academy in Dubuque to start training. Almost a decade later, Matthew earned his black belt. He says it was “easy.”
