DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines police have arrested a teenager in connection with Monday night’s triple shooting. Police have charged 17-year-old Danil James Deng with first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and one charge of carrying weapons. Investigators said the teen killed 40-year-old Frederick McCuller in what they are calling a “targeted ambush.”

OTTUMWA, IA (IRN) – A body was found in the water near Beach Ottumwa. There were no signs of foul play.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Sixty Iowa Republican legislators are asking the Iowa Supreme Court to overturn a 2018 ruling that declared abortion a fundamental right under the state Constitution. This comes after Texas has effectively banned most abortions in the state.

WEST DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Hundreds of employees with Wright Tree Service, a company headquartered in West Des Moines, are helping out with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. Ida made landfall in Louisiana on Sunday. Wright Tree Service received a call the Thursday before landfall, asking for crews to head out if possible, which isn’t an uncommon request the company receives during hurricanes.

IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) – Saturday’s home football game will be the first time Hawkeye fans will be able to purchase beer and wine products inside the stadium. The University of Iowa is the 8th Big Ten school to allow the sales of alcohol inside athletic venues. Budweiser and Busch products will be sold, and the university will also feature a few local vendors: Backpocket, Singlespeed, and Big Grove.
