URBANDALE, IA (IRN) – Urbandale police say a man left his 74-year-old partner lying on a bedroom floor for days before her death. Court documents show Gregory Quick called 911 four days after the woman fell. He gave her no food or water, according to police. Quick admitted he was the victim’s caretaker. She died days later at the hospital. He’s charged with neglect or abandonment of a dependent person.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The number of people hospitalized due to the coronavirus and the number of confirmed infections have dropped in Iowa, but hundreds of people in the state remain seriously ill with the virus. While hospitalizations have dropped about 10% in a week, Iowa has 849 people hospitalized with COVID-19 and 130 in intensive care.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines police have arrested a man who allegedly snuck into a hospital and bottle-fed a baby that wasn’t his. Adam Wedig, 36, is charged with two counts of criminal trespassing. He’s being held in the Polk County Jail. Detectives determined there was no intent to do the infant harm.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A new report by State Auditor Rob Sand says there are no significant concerns regarding the integrity of the COVID-19 data reported by the Iowa Department of Public Health on its public website. Sand found any delays and late-recorded test results appear to be attributable entirely to private labs submitting results late, rather than any issues from the Iowa state government.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A new, high-tech downtown Des Moines parking system will begin partial service in a few weeks. The traditional parking meters will soon be replaced with new parking kiosks. You can use the new Park Des Moines phone app and pay from your phone.
