BOONE COUNTY, IA (IRN) – The death of a K9 is under investigation in Boone County. The K9, named Bear, died last week. The DCI says the Boone County sheriff requested the state investigate the dog’s death.

OSAGE, IA (IRN) – An Osage man charged with killing a woman he had just met and putting her head on a stick in a park is pleading not guilty. 22-year-old Nathan Gilmore is charged with killing Angela Bradbury in 2021. During a search of Gilmore’s residence, police found a whiteboard in his living room with GPS coordinates of where the skull was found.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – A criminal complaint against one of two men charged in the mass shooting at Taboo nightclub in Cedar Rapids says video shows him fatally shooting a man at point blank range. Dimione Walker is charged with first-degree murder and weapons charges in connection to the April 10th shooting that killed three people and wounded 9 others. Surveillance video at the club shows Walker fired 8 shots at 25-year-old Michael Valentine at point-blank range with a handgun. Valentine died of six gunshot wounds.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Drake Public Safety is trying to find who scratched a racist slur into the wall of a campus building. It was quickly removed from a wall panel in an elevator. DPS is asking students to contact them if they know who’s responsible.

OCALA, FL (IRN) – Sterling Lord, the literary agent who worked for years to find a publisher for Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” has died. He had just turned 102. He’s an Iowa native who attended Grinnell College and wrote about sports for the Des Moines Register. He died Saturday in a nursing home in Ocala, Florida.
