ANKENY, IA (IRN) – Ankeny police said Friday that a man just arrested has been tied to at least 20 burglary cases.  KCCI-TV reports that during a one week period starting last Friday, police took multiple reports of vehicle burglaries, residential and garage burglaries, as well as three stolen vehicles and two hit-and-run crashes. Jonathan Lenaway, 20, of Ankeny, has been charged in relation to the cases.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (IRN) – Across nearly all measures, farm sector profitability is forecast to decline for the second straight year. The United States Department of Agriculture says that net farm income will be down 36% from 2014. The 2015 forecast is the lowest since 2002, adjusting for inflation, and a drop of nearly 53% from the record high achieved in 2013.

CHARLES CITY, IA (IRN) – A convicted sex offender who’s running for school board in Charles City has been arrested in another sex crime case.  KCCI-TV reports fifty-nine-year-old Doug Lindaman, of Charles City, was charged Thursday with sexual abuse of a 17-year-old boy. Lindaman was convicted in 1988 on two counts of lascivious acts with two minors.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Two Des Moines police officers were assaulted Thursday by a woman who allegedly stole beef sticks from a gas station. The Des Moines Register reports Conner Coleman, 18, was arrested on two counts of assault on a peace officer and one count of fifth-degree theft. An officer witnessed Coleman steal two beef sticks and as she was handcuffed, she began to “yell, scream and go berserk,” kicking the officers.

LOST NATION, IA (IRN) – An unidentified person mowing an embankment near the eastern Iowa town of Lost Nation died after the tractor they were riding rolled down an embankment. According to WQAD-TV, a back wheel of the tractor dropped off the edge of the embankment, causing the tractor to roll down it.  The driver was then pinned, suffering fatal injuries.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – A Cedar Rapids man has been found guilty of torching his apartment in April 2013. Christopher Perry, 29, was found guilty of first-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief. He faces up to 25 years in prison. Witnesses testified Perry argued with his girlfriend, telling her he was going to burn her belongings.

CEDAR FALLS, IA (IRN) – A man with a pickaxe attempted to break into an ATM at an AMVETS post in Cedar Falls. KWWL-TV reports the man wacked the machine for approximately an hour, taking a rest and a water break. On a hunch, police looked at surveillance video from a nearby Walmart, which showed images of a man purchasing a pickaxe shortly before the break in. No arrest has been made.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Insurance Division has issued a summary order to Carson Energy, of Austin, TX and its executives to cease and desist selling fraudulent unregistered securities. The oil and gas promoters were also ordered to pay more than $2.1 million in restitution to 14 Iowans.
