CHARLES CITY, IA (IRN) – A North Iowa man is facing multiple charges after a high speed pursuit through two counties. KIMT-TV reports the Charles City Police tried to stop a motorcycle ridden by 26-year-old Kyle Fitzpatrick of Mason City. He took off, leading officers on a chase until he was stopped in Chickasaw County. He had an outstanding warrant on drug charges.

CUMMING, IA (IRN) – A Warren County man was killed in a crash Friday near Cumming. The Iowa State Patrol reports 23-year-old James Fredregill lost control of his car, went into the ditch, and hit a tree. The crash is under investigation.

DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – A convicted murderer has escaped from a Davenport work-release facility, according to WQAD-TV. 39-year-old John Mohr didn’t return from his job as scheduled. In 1997 Mohr was sentenced to 50 years in prison for murder. He was convicted of shaking his girlfriend’s 13-month-old baby to death.

MARION, IA (IRN) – A Marion convenience store was robbed Friday. KGAN-TV reports a man walked into a Fas Fuel just before 1:30 a.m., showed the clerk a knife, and demanded cash and cigarettes. The clerk handed them over, and the man fled. No one was injured.

AMES, IA (IRN) – An ISU student is now a world record holder. Austin Keller just entered the Guinness Book of World Records in an obscure category. He’s the fastest 20-meter crab walker in the world. The previous fastest time for crab walking 65 feet had been held by a Japanese man. Without any training, Keller beat the old record by over a second. Keller says he loved reading the Guinness Book of World Records in his high school library, dreaming of one day seeing his name in it. He adds, “There are a lot of stupid records out there, and this might be No. 1.
