DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – Five juveniles face charges after a police chase involving stolen vehicles. On Friday Davenport police learned of three stolen vehicles being pursued into the city by the Durant Police Department. Drivers of the vehicles were driving recklessly at high rates of speed. Tire deflation devices were used to stop them. Officers chased five juveniles who ran from the vehicles and quickly caught them. The five juveniles, all 14- and 15-years old, have been charged with first degree theft and interference with official acts.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – This week’s high winds in Iowa blew in a first for one electric utility. MidAmerican Energy officials say that winds blew hard enough on Monday and Tuesday for wind turbines to provide all the power needed to meet its customers’ needs for the state.
MidAmerican’s goal is to eventually produce 100 percent of its power with renewable resources.

AKRON, IA (IRN) – Iowa’s 4th district representative Steve King hosted his annual pheasant hunt on Saturday morning in Akron. WHO-TV reports the Congressman was joined by a number of guests, including Donald Trump Jr. Trump Jr. makes his visit to northwest Iowa a day after FBI special counsel Rex Mueller announced criminal charges will be assessed in the Russian election interference investigation. King says there is no substance to any charges.

AMES, IA (IRN) – Kyle Kempt threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns and 25th-ranked Iowa State upset fourth-ranked TCU 14-7 on Saturday, handing the Horned Frogs their first defeat of the season. The Hawkeyes beat Minnesota 17-10.
