CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Cedar Rapids Police are treating the death of a man found near Coe College as a homicide. KGAN-TV reports police found the 40-year-old victim at his home Sunday. Neighbors say the victim was friendly but mostly kept to himself. One neighbor claims they found the victim dead on his front porch with multiple gunshot wounds. They also report seeing two men running from the scene.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Iowa Senate Republicans say their investigation into alleged sexual harassment within the office is complete, but the results of the $1.75 million taxpayer-funded investigation will not be made public. KCCI-TV reports the investigation was launched after former Senate Republican staffer Kirsten Anderson won a sexual harassment lawsuit. Aides to Senate Majority Leader Bill Dix said the findings would not be made public because it is a personnel matter, but taxpayers say they have a right to know what goes on in the people’s house.

POLK COUNTY, IA (IRN) – An early morning accident sent two people to the hospital Monday.
A car and a semi collided on Highway 163 near Des Moines. The car ended up underneath the semi and was dragged a few hundred feet. Fog may have played a role in the crash.

ROCHESTER, MN – An Iowa man is facing a felony motor vehicle theft charge after paying for a car in Rochester, MN with counterfeit $100 bills. KIMT-TV reports 26-year-old Terry Lee Grotegut Jr., of Waukon, is facing charges for felony motor vehicle theft, theft by swindle, theft with counterfeit currency, possession of a controlled substance, and weapons charges for having brass knuckles. Meth was found in his possession.

DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – Over 100 people in need in Dubuque got free self-care services on Monday as part of a World Kindness Day act called Beauty Gives Back. KCRG-TV reports Capri College and local salon owners gave free haircuts, manicures, pedicures and massages. They also gave out over 200 personal hygiene products, cold weather items, and books at the Dubuque Rescue Mission.
