BOONE, IA (IRN) – Fire crews were called to a house fire in Boone that sent two people to the hospital early this morning. KCCI-TV reports two people, a man and a woman, were inside the home and were hospitalized in the incident. Fire officials said the home is about a block away from the emergency dispatch center in Boone, and the man ran from the burning home to alert officials to the fire.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The jury trial of a woman accused of striking and killing a Des Moines man while she was intoxicated is set to begin today. WHO-TV reports Oleaf Teoh, 23, is facing several charges including vehicular homicide and operating a car while under the influence. Teoh allegedly left the scene of the accident and was arrested later.

BURLINGTON, IA (IRN) – A man is on the run after robbing a Burlington convenience store last night. WQAD-TV reports the man approached the store clerk with a pistol in hand while wearing a surgical mask. He took an undisclosed amount of money and left the store on foot. No one was hurt.

PLEASANT HILL, IA (IRN) – Authorities are trying to figure out how a truck landed in the Des Moines River in Pleasant Hill. KCCI-TV reports emergency response personnel were sent to the river for a water rescue. When officials arrived at the scene, they found the truck but no one inside. The truck was stolen in Des Moines.

GREENSBORO, NC. (IRN) – Megan Gustafson had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Iowa women’s basketball team past North Carolina State 79-61 on Saturday in the Greensboro Regional semifinals. Gustafson, who averages a Division I-best 28 points while also ranking second in rebounding, finished with her 33rd double-double to match the NCAA’s single-season record. She made 10 of her 13 shots. This helped the second-seeded Hawkeyes (29-6) earn their first Elite Eight appearance since 1993. Iowa will play top-seeded Baylor tonight with the winner advancing to the Final Four.
