DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting an increasing rate in positive coronavirus cases. There are 676 new positive cases and no additional deaths Thursday. That brings the statewide total to 29,966 positive cases and 717 deaths.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines police say officers were assaulted by Black Lives Matter protesters at the State Capitol on Wednesday and now more than a dozen of those protesters have been arrested. However, members of the BLM group say it was police who incited the violence. One officer was wrestled to the ground and had his weapon taken away, which he later recovered.

IOWA (IRN) – The state teachers union representing more than 50,000 state educators is calling the Iowa Department of Education and the Reynolds administration irresponsible for not requiring face masks in schools after reopening.

DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – The IBM facility in Dubuque will be shutting down operations on November 2. IBM is consolidating operations with a facility in Columbia, Missouri. Most of the employees will be offered the same position or a similar one in Columbia.

DYERSVILLE, IA (IRN) – Major League Baseball still plans on playing a game at the newly built stadium on the Field of Dreams movie site Aug. 13. Now, the Chicago White Sox will no longer play the New York Yankees. The Saint Louis Cardinals will instead take on the Sox. It’s still not known if fans will be allowed to attend the game.
