IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) – An Iowa City man is in the Johnson County jail on attempted murder charges after a neighbor dispute turned into shots fired. Antonio Jackson, 55, was seen chasing a man in the middle of a street. Witnesses told police Jackson fired seven shots at the victim as he ran away.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A new law eliminating the statute of limitations for filing child sex abuse criminal charges in Iowa has been signed by Gov. Reynolds. Under current Iowa law, child sex abuse victims have until age 33 to press criminal charges.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – A Des Moines police officer has been cleared of wrong-doing in an investigation in Pleasant Hill and will return to his duties. Officer Rodney Briggs was accused of using his role as a police officer to gain access to evidence in an investigation into his girlfriend.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – A cat died in a house fire in Cedar Rapids Wednesday. EMS and fire crews attempted to resuscitate the cat but were unsuccessful. No other injuries were reported.

HIAWATHA, IA (IRN) – Police got in a short car chase with a stolen vehicle Wednesday in eastern Iowa. A citizen called 911 for a reckless driver on Interstate 380. A plate scan determined that the car was stolen in Bremer County on Tuesday. The Iowa State Patrol attempted to stop the car but it kept going. Stop sticks were deployed, and the chase came to an end in the parking lot of a Toyota car dealership in Hiawatha. Three occupants in the car got out and ran on foot but were caught a short distance later. All were juveniles who escaped from a juvenile home in Waverly.
