MARION, IA (IRN) – A Marion man was arrested after allegedly forcing a 14-year-old into his garage with the intent to sexually abuse her. 43-year-old Nicholas Roberts allegedly attempted to entice a 14-year-old girl into his garage to have sex with him. When she refused, he reportedly grabbed her and pulled her into his garage. He then exposed himself and attempted to assault her. The victim was able to get out of the garage and find a neighbor for help.

DUBUQUE, IA (IRN) – Much of Dubuque is without drinkable water. A boil advisory was issued for 15,600 homes and businesses yesterday.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources have confirmed that statewide average precipitation has been below the mark for the 5th month in a row. Iowa’s August precipitation was 3.53 inches which was 0.6 inches below normal for the month. Drought conditions have made slight improvements in the southwest and central part of the state, but they have worsened in southeast Iowa over the last month.

IOWA CITY (IRN) – The University of Iowa was the only regents university in the state to gain students this year over year over last, adding 111 students for a total 2022 enrollment of 31,317. The growth can be attributed in part to its freshman class of 5,178 students — the third-most in the university’s history. ISU and UNI are losing students, but both show increased numbers in their freshman classes.
