ELDORA – Police are investigating the apparent shooting death of a teenager over the weekend. A press release from the Iowa Department of Public Safety indicates Eldora Police and the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call Sunday evening that someone had been shot. Officers placed a 12-year-old in custody after finding a 13-year-old female dead upon arrival. The South Hardin School Superintendent confirmed the teen who died was a student in the district.

IOWA – The majority of Iowans are under threat for severe weather today. The National Weather Service reports that a powerful low pressure system will bring multiple fronts through, which means potentially extreme hail, strong winds, and multiple tornadoes, especially in the southeast half of the state. The strong storm system could also include 1 to 2 inches of needed rainfall for those especially north of Interstate 80 and in the path of any thunderstorm activity.

NEW YORK – In perhaps the least surprising move in recent major sports history, Caitlin Clark was selected No. 1 overall in the WBNA draft Monday evening. The Iowa Hawkeyes basketball superstar is joining the Indiana Fever, a franchise that had made several moves over the past few months to prepare for the phenom’s arrival. Clark is the reigning two-time consensus National Player of the Year and the leading scorer in college basketball history at 3,951 points. Teammate Kate Martin was a second round pick and his going to Las Vegas.
