IOWA – More power outages and storm damage reports came out of eastern Iowa on Friday following another powerful complex of thunderstorms. Friday capped a busy, active week across the state as dozens of severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued by the National Weather Service across the state. KCRG-TV reports hundreds of Iowans were without power Friday evening and many communities reported large hail and small tornadoes.
MARION COUNTY – A sheriff’s deputy in Marion County has been fired following an investigation. KCCI-TV reports Deputy Carter Reichmann was under investigation by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office for incidents that occurred while in Monroe. He was serving most recently as a School Resource Officer in southern Marion County, and his release was not related to that position.
MITCHELVILLE – The former fire chief of the City of Mitchellville is suing for his termination. WHO-13 reports Michael Twohey filed a petition for writ of mandamus. He was fired in March by Mayor ony Jense following a dispute between the two, according to the Des Moines Register. Twohey had requested a public hearing over his firing, but that was denied by the city.
