LEON, IA (IRN) – A child was killed in Leon in Decatur County in an accident involving a front-end loader. A hay bale had fallen off a truck’s trailer, driven by 41-year-old Justin Miller. After Miller retrieved the hay bale from the ditch with a front-end loader, he then turned into a private driveway and hit a 6-year-old. The child was fatally injured in the incident.

GRANT COUNTY, WI (IRN) – A man was killed in a collision yesterday with a semi in Grant County, Wisconsin. A 47-year-old semi-truck driver from Dubuque was driving a 2021 Freightliner semi when it collided head on with a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix. 33-year-old Nathan Williams was driving the Pontiac with his toddler son in the back seat when the car crossed the centerline at a curve in the road and hit the truck. The toddler is in the hospital under observation.

CEDAR FALLS, IA (IRN) – On Monday, Cedar Falls Police received a call from Blaine’s Farm & Fleet that two men left with a quantity of ammunition without paying for it. They stole approximately 1300 rounds of .223 caliber rifle ammunition and fled the scene before officers arrived. The following morning officers received another call from the store saying one of the men had returned and was in the same ammunition aisle. 22-year-old Jalen Malik Seals was taken into custody without incident.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Governor Kim Reynolds told reporters yesterday that she doesn’t plan on holding a special session of the legislature to ban abortion in Iowa.

INDEPENDENCE, IA (IRN) – Former Buchanan County Deputy Klint Bentley says he’s not guilty of charges including extortion and accepting a bribe. Bentley allegedly stopped a car in rural Buchanan County for speeding on February 4th, 2022. Court records indicate Bentley asked the driver to show him her breasts, implying he would not issue a citation if she did. Bentley allegedly continued to solicit nude photos of the woman via text message after the traffic stop. A criminal complaint says the victim recorded the traffic stop.
