BONDURANT, IA (IRN) – A fatal crash happened this morning near Bondurant. The crash involved a large truck and a car. One person has been confirmed dead.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – An investigation in underway in Des Moines after an overnight officer-involved shooting. KCCI-TV reports a woman was injured in the shooting and transported to a local hospital. Information on her name and condition has not been released. No officers were injured in the incident.

IOWA CITY, IA (IRN) – A woman has been arrested and charged with child stealing and child endangerment after police say she stole her boyfriend’s 6-year-old child and took the child into the woods. KCRG-TV reports 25-year-old Amy Green of Iowa City isn’t the mother and had no custody, permission or authorization to take the child. Green has a history of illegal substance abuse and mental health issues.

SIOUX CITY, IA (IRN) – A man lost his hand in a fireworks mishap in northwestern Iowa yesterday. The Sioux City Journal reports the man was taken to a local hospital. On Saturday, a four-week-old baby and her mother in eastern Iowa suffered burns and serious injuries when fireworks exploded on them during an illegal show. Iowa recently lifted a decades-long ban on fireworks sales.

DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – One person was shot in Davenport Monday, according to KCRG-TV. Police say the victim is being treated for injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. Investigators say they are checking surveillance cameras nearby. No arrests have been made.

ANKENY, IA (IRN) – An Ankeny teacher is doing her best to keep kids reading over the summer. WHO-TV reports Joy DeJong, a 5th grade teacher at Southeast Elementary, started collecting books a year ago and putting them in the trunk of her car so she could bring a makeshift library on wheels directly to the kids. She says, “not all kids are able to get to the library, so what better way to get books in kids’ hands than to take the books to the children?”
