UNDERWOOD, IA (IRN) – A teenage girl died after becoming trapped in her burning, crashed car. KCRG-TV reports Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s deputies were sent to the scene of a crash Friday morning when 16-year-old ShyAnne Larsen, of Honey Creek, reported that her car had crashed and had caught fire. She told dispatchers she was unable to get out. When deputies arrived, the car was on its side fully engulfed in flames. She didn’t survive.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Police are investigating white supremacist messages found on local street murals on Des Moines’ east-side. KCCI-TV reports the murals, which are located on two different buildings, blocks apart, were discovered vandalized Tuesday.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – The Iowa Democratic Party raised about $1.2 million more than the Republican Party of Iowa in the most recent reporting period as both parties funnel cash and resources into campaigns up and down the ballot. The parties filed state reports Friday detailing what each raised and spent during the three months that ended Oct. 14. The Iowa Democratic Party raised about $5.9 million and the Republican Party of Iowa raised about $4.7 million.

IOWA (IRN) – Nate Stanley threw for 86 yards and a touchdown and the 19th-ranked Iowa football team pummeled Maryland 23-0 on Saturday for its third straight victory. Northern Iowa upset 3rd-ranked South Dakota State 24-9, and Iowa State had a week off.
