FORT DODGE, IA (IRN) – Fort Dodge police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are investigating a double homicide that happened early Monday morning. KCCI-TV reports police were called to an alley just after midnight Monday, for reports of shots fired. Officers say they found two men dead from gunshot wounds in an alleyway.

DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – Davenport Police are investigating an armed robbery yesterday, according to WQAD-TV. A suspect pulled a gun on a pizza delivery pizza driver, took cash, and left the scene. No one was hurt.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Officials closed the southbound lanes of Fleur Drive Saturday after a fire broke out in a homeless encampment located under the Martin Luther King Jr. bridge. KCCI-TV reports a city engineer is inspecting whether the bridge is safe to drive on. No one was injured.

CEDAR FALLS, IA (IRN) – A Cedar Falls police squad car was damaged after catching fire this weekend. KWWL-TV reports a squad car caught fire behind City Hall on Saturday. Officers were able to put the fire out before firefighters arrived on scene. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is not suspicious.

MUSCATINE, IA (IRN) – A 911 dispatcher got what might be a once in a lifetime call last Wednesday, according to WQAD-TV. Ben Sharpe answered the phone at 3:41 a.m. and Lee Walker was on the other end. Walker said, ‘I think my wife is having a baby.’ Sharpe walked Lee through how to deliver the baby, and the call lasted less than five minutes when baby Kalee came into the world. Sharp reports, “the last thing I said was, ‘Congratulations’… and just to be able to hear the baby crying on the other end… we disconnected and I got this feeling of joy…it just felt great.”
