BLUE GRASS, IA (IRN) – A 13-year-old driver led officers on a chase that hit speeds of 100 mph in eastern Iowa. KCCI-TV reports she and five other young people in the van were taken into custody early Sunday after the van was stopped on the west side of Davenport. The van was finally stopped after deflation devices punctured all four of its tires. The van was reported stolen in Rock Island, Illinois. The young driver was arrested.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Two men were arrested Wednesday for allegedly trying to break into a Des Moines home while an occupant was at home. The Des Moines Register reports one suspect allegedly pounded on the front door and rang the doorbell while the other reportedly tried the back door. The 24-year-old victim grabbed pepper spray, then a knife, and called police as the two suspects backed a vehicle into the driveway, and tried again to gain access. An officer responding to the scene blocked their car in a driveway and arrested them.

MASON CITY, IA (IRN) – An 18-year-old man has been charged with felony terrorism for shooting at an occupied car Saturday morning in Mason City, according to KIMT-TV. No one was injured.

SIOUX CITY, IA (IRN) – Police are looking for a man who robbed a Sioux City convenience store early Saturday morning. KCAU-TV reports the man entered the store with a rifle and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk gave it to him and the man fled.

IOWA (IRN) – A blizzard hit southern Iowa Sunday, causing dozens of accidents across the area. Sustained wind speeds of over 30 mph caused significant drifting across roadways. Much of the south central and south eastern part of the state received over a foot of snow, and the National Weather Service reports a high of 17 inches in Oskaloosa. Hundreds of flights were cancelled across the Midwest.
