FREMONT COUNTY, IA (IRN) – Severe flooding in Fremont County took the life of one man and injured two others. The three drove around a barrier and into flood waters. They then climbed out and tried to swim to safety. It didn’t work.

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA (IRN) – Travel in western Iowa is still hampered by flooding. The Iowa Department of Transportation reports northbound Interstate 29 from the Missouri state line to about 40 miles north near the Pacific Junction exit remains closed due to flooding. Drivers on I-29 are being rerouted onto Interstate 35 in Kansas City, Missouri, north to Des Moines, Iowa, then over I-80 back to I-29 at Council Bluffs. The detour takes drivers almost 140 miles out of the way.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Protestors gathered outside of Alliant Energy in downtown Cedar Rapids yesterday afternoon after Alliant told customers they will see a spike in their bills starting next month. Rates will go up 25% in the next two years.

LAWRENCE, KS (IRN) – For the fourth time in six years, the Iowa State Cyclones are Big 12 Tournament Champions. ISU beat Kansas 78-66 Saturday night at the Sprint Center in front of scores of Cyclones fans that made the annual trip to Hilton South.
