CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Two people were shot and killed and two were injured in Cedar Rapids early Saturday morning, according to KCRG-TV. At around 1:20 a.m., Cedar Rapids Police responded to calls about a shooting in the parking lot of Iowa Smoke Shop. The victims of the shooting were in a vehicle in the parking lot at the store. An individual approached the vehicle and fired multiple shots. Police believe it was a targeted attack, but do not have a suspect or motive.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – An investigation is underway after a body was pulled from the Des Moines River. WHO-TV reports Polk County Deputies were to the Yellow Banks boat ramp after witnesses saw a body floating in the water. The body is of a middle-aged white male.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines Police arrested an allegedly drunk wrong-way driver early Saturday morning after they said he caused a three-vehicle crash that sent four people to a hospital, according to KCCI-TV. He’s from Texas.

IOWA (IRN) – Researchers at Iowa State University say we may see more monarch butterflies this year. Scientists have been tracking the largest population of wintering monarchs in Mexico since 2007. And depending on the weather, the butterflies could reach Iowa later this month or early June.
