DAVENPORT, IA (IRN) – A man overcome by smoke while searching for two dogs during a Davenport house fire has been hospitalized. KCRG-TV reports firefighters were sent to the house around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. A passer-by had noticed the fire and broke a window to wake up two residents. They got out, but he went back in to look for the dogs. The dogs eventually were rescued.

BELLEVUE, IA (IRN) – A 12-year-old boy from Clinton was killed in a rollover crash that happened while off-roading. WQAD-TV reports the rollover happened on Saturday where a large group of 4-wheelers had gathered. A Chevrolet Suburban, driven by a 15-year-old, rolled twice and a 12-year-old passenger was thrown from the vehicle. He was pinned underneath and killed.

WATERLOO, IA (IRN) – A woman lost her arm and leg due to a train accident early Sunday morning. KCRG-TV reports it happened around 1:30 a.m, and there is no word on her condition.

OTTUMWA, IA (IRN) – An Ottumwa man was arrested Saturday after police say he walked completely naked on a public street and tried to use karate on police when they confronted him. KTVO-TV reports the police tasered and arrested him. After retrieving his clothing, they found a baggy of methamphetamine in his pants pocket.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Firefighters put out a small fire at the popular restaurant Centro in Des Moines Sunday afternoon. KCCI-TV reports fire crews closed the entire block to battle the blaze. Despite the alarms sounding throughout the building, some customers continued enjoying their lunch. Capt. Dean Rodriguez, of the Des Moines Fire Department says, “we told them they had to get out. They were like ‘Really?’ ‘Yeah, you have to leave.’”
