CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Cedar Rapids Police say a man is suffering from life-threatening injuries after a Saturday morning shooting. Officers responded to a report of a shooting and found an adult male victim inside the residence who sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds. After receiving initial medical care at the scene, the victim was transported to a local hospital.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Des Moines police have confirmed a girl sustained serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle. KCCI-TV report Friday afternoon an 8-year-old girl was hit by a vehicle in a driveway at a home. She was transported to Blank Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

DES MOINES, Iowa — Thirteen presidential candidates spoke to a crowd of about 13,000 at the Iowa Democratic Party’s Liberty and Justice Celebration at Wells Fargo Arena Friday night. Former Texas Congressman Beto O’Rourke withdrew from the race late in the afternoon, saying he saw no path forward to the presidency.

INDEPENDENCE, IA (IRN) – Cities like Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Fort Dodge and even small Chester, Iowa use speed cameras to keep an eye on drivers. KWWL-TV reports the city of Independence will be joining that group. Independence will add the cameras near the schools, where roads are fairly narrow and busy, making them hard to police traditionally.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA (IRN) – Surveillance video captured something several Cedar Rapids homeowners were not expecting to see Halloween night. KCRG-TV reports one video captured an older man approaching a home with no costume on, before emptying out the entire bucket of candy on the porch into a bucket of his own. Then, the man ran away. Just a couple blocks away at another home, two adults ignored the sign posted on a door asking people to take only a few pieces. The two proceeded to scoop out handfuls of candy, before one woman laughed and dumped the entire bucket in her bag.
