FAYETTE COUNTY, IA (IRN) – A Cedar Rapids man is accused of stealing several vehicles and leading deputies on a chase in Fayette and Buchanan counties Tuesday. KGAN-TV reports Roy Eugene Morarie III, 20, was arrested following the chase. Witnesses said three people wearing masks were seen stealing two vehicles. Investigators spotted one of the stolen vehicles, and a chase ensued. Morarie ditched the vehicle and ran into a wooded area near Stanley. Investigators were able to search and find Morarie using a drone.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Portions of Ingersoll Avenue were closed Wednesday evening are firefighters respond to a fire at Palmer’s Deli & Market. KCCI-TV reports the cause of the fire is under investigation.

MILLS COUNTY, IA (IRN) – Flood victims in western Iowa are being urged to take a home buyout while they still can. WHO-TV reports there are about 65 flood victims in Mills County wanting a buyout from the Federal Emergency Management Administration. Another dozen or so still trying to decide what to do. The buyout is a one-time deal.

DES MOINES, IA (IRN) – Iowans gathered Wednesday to celebrate the life of Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Cady. Cady died unexpectedly Friday at age 66. He has been with the Iowa Supreme Court since 1998 and was appointed Chief Justice in 2011. One decade ago, Cady wrote the unanimous opinion making same-sex marriage legal in Iowa. Last year, Cady led a 5-2 majority decision striking down a 72-hour waiting period for abortions.
